 Program Details
Program:  Young Women's Group
Description:  The young women's group focuses on health issues and leadership iin a socially supportive environment through a participant-driven process. Each session focuses on a topic determined by the participants and includes an aspect of physical fitness which is of interest to the group. Additionally, the group includes a focus on creating theatrical pieces based on the experiences of the participating young women. The program was developed in response to high incidents of teenage pregnancy, risk of STDs, AIDS and substance use. the rationale is that when young women are able to access resources and a peer support group, they will develop resiliency which will assist them in making healthy decisions when in situations which could put them at risk.
